The Bouncing Universe

In this talk, we will explain why the big bang followed by a period of inflation fails to explain the observed properties of our universe and how a successful explanation can found by eliminating inflation altogether and replacing the big bang with a big bounce -- a smooth transition from an earlier contracting phase to the current expanding phase.
