Emily Schexnayder
Coordinator, Trips and Challenge Course Operations
I've experienced firsthand the impact recreation can have on a student's personal and professional growth. During my undergraduate years, I began working at UREC, where I discovered a passion for the outdoors that became more than just a hobby—it became the foundation of my career. Today, I'm excited to help students find and develop their own personal and unique relationship with recreation.

The Magic Word
My favorite word in the English language would be "perseverance." It represents the strength to keep moving forward, even when the path gets difficult. To me, perseverance is a reminder that growth often happens when we choose to continue—even when things get tough.
Dream Big
If I’m dreaming big, I’m going with a personal chef—no question! Great food, no grocery shopping, and no dishes? That’s an investment I can definitely get behind.
In Another Life
If I were not working in recreation, I would likely be pursuing a career in emergency medicine. I am particularly drawn to search and rescue operations, as they combine my commitment to helping others with my love for the outdoors while working in challenging environments.
