Scholarships and Awards for Incoming Freshmen

The Ogden Honors College offers some of the university's most competitive merit-based funding, including two full-ride scholarships covering the complete cost of attendance for four years.

Significant funding opportunities are available to Ogden Honors College students, both through Honors College scholarships and through general LSU scholarships. Substantial merit-based awards are available to entering Honors College freshmen.

Entering Honors College freshmen are automatically considered for the Stamps Scholarship and Chancellor's Alumni Scholarship simply by applying, and honors-caliber applicants often qualify for additional LSU merit awards on top of these.

Priority deadline: December 1. Complete your Common Application and all required documents by this date to be considered for top-tier awards.

Please note: only entering Ogden Honors College freshmen are eligible for these scholarships.

Honorific Scholarships

The Ogden Honors College awards the Stamps Scholarship and the Chancellor's Alumni Scholarship. These are LSU's top merit-based scholarships that provide the full cost of attendance for four years.

Since 2012, LSU has been a proud partner of the Stamps Scholars Program, which provides merit scholarships to the brightest and most outstanding undergraduate freshmen admitted to Louisiana State University. This elite award offers a full cost of attendance for four years, as well as an unprecedented level of funding for enrichment experiences.

Stamps Scholars are directed to resources that will help cultivate each scholar's intellectual distinction, initiative, and commitment to service, leadership, global knowledge, and career exploration.

Stamps Scholarship recipients will receive the following:

  • Full cost of attendance for four years (covers tuition, fees, room & board, books, supplies, etc.)
    • Louisiana resident value: approx. $33,000 per year
    • Non-Louisiana resident value: approx. $50,000 per year
  • A potential $14,000 for enrichment experiences
  • The opportunity to earn up to an additional $1,550 per year by participating in the President's Future Leaders in Research Program
  • A one-time use $1100 laptop stipend

The Chancellor's Alumni Scholarship, one of the top merit-based scholarships on campus, is funded through the LSU Alumni Association from an endowment made in memory of Ola and Ruth Cain by Gordon A. Cain and Mary H. Cain.

Chancellor's Alumni Scholars Award recipients will receive the following:

  • Full cost of attendance for four years (covers tuition, fees, room & board, books, supplies, etc.)
    • Louisiana resident value: approx. $33,000 per year
    • Non-Louisiana resident value: approx. $50,000 per year
  • $2,000 study abroad stipend
  • The opportunity to earn up to an additional $1,550 per year by participating in the President's Future Leaders in Research Program

 

Consideration for Merit-Based Scholarships

Prospective freshmen, with a strong record of high academic achievement, leadership, and service, are nominated for consideration through the admissions process.

Prospective students must complete their application to the university through the Common Application, and submit all required documentation by the scholarship priority deadline, December 1, to be considered.

The Office of Enrollment Management, in consultation with the Ogden Honors College, considers completed applications and selects students to advance to the scholarship competition. 

All applicants to the Honors College (including international applicants) will be considered for the Stamps and Chancellor's Alumni scholarships.

Since honors admission requirements mirror or surpass those of many of LSU's major scholarships, entering Honors College freshmen often automatically qualify for LSU merit-based scholarships.
